Values-Based Local Procurement with MFSN, VT FEED and USDA

There are many different ways to prioritize “local” when purchasing for your school program! Explore the common myths around local foods for school nutrition - and learn how to bust them! MFSN partnered with the 2020 Virtual Northeast Farm to School Institute to offer this workshop, made possible by a 2019 USDA Farm to School Training grant. Though the workshop is 1.5 hours, the recording is close to 2 hours featuring each breakout work group exploring a different local procurement scenario- from "procuring” your school garden produce to purchasing local across state lines.

Sea to School: A Lunch Voyage

Maine, Massacheustts, and New Hampshire Farm to School teamed up to create two new Sea to School resources for classrooms and cafeterias. The Sea to School Guide and this accompanying 15-minute video support use of local seafood in school meals and marine education and will help schools procure, serve, and promote sustainably harvested Gulf of Maine seafood products.
